Writers @ OU is a blog for writers to reflect on themselves as writers and the process of writing, and if we are brave, share parts of our work with the world.

Writing Advice
What's the best writing advice you've ever received?
The worst advice I've ever gotten probably came in the form of "that's good." Didn't tell me much about what I did well or what I could do better. And I remember one time in particular when I crashed and burned because I took it!
Best advice I ever go was to keep writing and not judge until I finished. The reason this was so useful is that I tend to write terrible (seriously: I hold world records in that department and I'm only half kidding when I say that.)
Worst advice? "Write what you know." If I'd followed that, I'd write about precious little, because I wouldn't have discovered a need to research nor would I have written any fiction.
