Writing Advice

What's the best writing advice you've ever received?

  1. The worst advice I've ever gotten probably came in the form of "that's good." Didn't tell me much about what I did well or what I could do better. And I remember one time in particular when I crashed and burned because I took it!

    Best advice? Start earlier. Get feedback. :)

  2. Best advice I ever go was to keep writing and not judge until I finished. The reason this was so useful is that I tend to write terrible (seriously: I hold world records in that department and I'm only half kidding when I say that.)

    Worst advice? "Write what you know." If I'd followed that, I'd write about precious little, because I wouldn't have discovered a need to research nor would I have written any fiction.
